Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Five, Six and Seven East round-up – Saturday, May 30

LUCKETT Seconds got off the mark in Division Five following promotion with a four-wicket success over their Holsworthy counterparts at Chapel Field.

The Devonians were all out for just 152, the best being Lewis Chidley’s 27, and although Ryan Smith’s 3-32 kept the visitors in it, Jonny Hoskin (31) and new signing Martyn Stenlake (35no) held their nerve.

Launceston Seconds lost by 51 runs at Menheniot-Looe twos who posted 173-6 despite Peter West’s 2-33.

The visitors soon slipped to 20-5, but the tail - including Will Mansfield (28), Indy Worth (14) and West (33) - showed some resolve.

Werrington Fourths are second in Division Six East after an eight-wicket win at Grampound Road Thirds.

Will Conway’s 5-38 was key to restricting the home side to 160 all out, before Adam Paynter’s 74 not out guided the chase alongside Rory Sachs (28no).

Ben Lane made a rapid 55 not out in Tintagel Seconds’ 26-run success at their Bude counterparts.

The home side fought back following a good start from openers Andrew O’Kelly (32) and Simon Harrison (50) as Derek Piper (3-51) and Mike Taylor (2-45) shared five wickets.

However, Bude could only muster 196-8 in response despite 65 from Michael Taylor and a remarkable 79 extras. Vedavyas Chowdare was dangerous for his 2-33.

South Petherwin Seconds were beaten by nine wickets by visiting Saltash twos.

Richard Watson’s 90 underpinned the home side’s 194-9 with Ian Clements (22) and Trevor Dingle (31) also getting in.

St Minver Seconds mustered just 64 all out in a seven-wicket defeat at St Stephen Seconds.

Launceston Thirds fell to a eight-wicket defeat to Boconnoc Seconds in Division Seven East despite thirties from Jonny Knight (31) and Simon Wilton (30), while Luckett Thirds lost by 43 runs at their Saltash counterparts despite Martin Budge’s unbeaten 53.
