The Cornwall Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (Cornwall YFC) started their Tower to Tower epic journey on Saturday, April 25, more commonly called the WotNot. They left Cornwall at 7am and travelled by mini-bus up to London. In London they cruised down the Thames seeing the sights of the city until they reached Tilbury. From Tilbury they travelled to Billericay in Essex for their first night's stay. The next day the hard work really began, they are cycling a total of over 400 miles which equates to approximately 70 miles a day to enable them to reach Blackpool in time to meet with other members from Cornwall and the rest of the country for the National Convention on Friday, May 1. Thousands of members from all over England and Wales will be congregating and celebrating another great year that they have had in Young Farmers. This year Cornwall YFC is supporting the Sapphire Nurse, through Epilepsy Support for Young People in Cornwall and Epilepsy Action, a specialist nurse at the Royal Cornwall Hospital who specialises in helping people in Cornwall who suffer from epilepsy. A spokesman said: "Funding for the Sapphire Nurse (Mary Perrett ) is very limited and the resources that she needs are very difficult to acquire from National Health Service so we are aiming to raise money during the year to support Mary's work and provide the vital equipment that she needs. The charity isn't heard of as much as some other charities and as well as raising money for the charity we would like to raise the profile of the charity and epilepsy so that people know what to do if someone is having a seizure." Of the 28 members to take part in the WotNot, 16 members have completed a WotNot before, 12 members have never taken part before and 2 members will be completing the journey on a tandem bike.
