A SCHOOL has launched new provisions in an effort to support working families.
Marhamchurch C of E Academy has announced the launch of a new after-school ‘Wrap Around Club’, providing extended care for pupils every day until 5.45pm.
The school has expressed that the provision is designed to support working families while offering children a safe, engaging, and fun environment after the school day.
The Wrap Around Club runs alongside the school’s after-school clubs, with children able to join from either 3.15pm or 4.15pm until 5.45pm. Pupils will enjoy a mix of activities, including snacks, games, and calming activities.
This year’s after-school clubs include sports such as tag rugby, gymnastics, choir, yoga, and even tchoukball, a game similar to handball but with goals replaced by framed sprung nets.
The new Wrap Around Club forms part of the government’s national initiative to expand wraparound childcare, increasing the number of places available for primary school children and helping families balance work and childcare commitments.
Parents can book places via the school app, and families may be able to use Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare support to help cover the cost.
Deirdre Petersen, headteacher at Marhamchurch C of E Academy, said: “We’re delighted to offer this new Wrap Around Club, giving families more flexibility while ensuring children have a safe and enjoyable space after school. It’s a chance for our pupils to try new activities, make friends, and unwind at the end of the day.”
Tracey Cleverly, CEO of Learning Academy Partnership, added: “Expanding wraparound care across our schools is a key part of our commitment to supporting families and giving every child the opportunity to thrive. Marhamchurch’s new provision ensures that children can continue learning, socialising, and developing skills outside the classroom in a safe, inclusive environment.”
