I was fascinated to see the photo of Rev Densham the vicar of Warleggan in Len Sheppard’s article in the Cornish and Devon Post.

The wonderful Edward Woodward played Densham in the film “A congregation of ghosts” and I was lucky to have a part as Mrs Tredinick the vitriolic wife of the kindly churchwarden.

Densham had come from India and his arrival in Warleggan caused a stir. He banned all activities such as whist drives, watching films and others. Then he painted some of the walls in red inside the church!

Before long his congregations fell off and he preached to an empty church. Densham created effigies made of straw and cardboard and put them in the pews. Very tragic…

It was Edward Woodwards last film.
