THE last chance to have your say on proposed cuts to Holsworthy Library opening hours is approaching.
Libraries Unlimited, the operator of the majority of the public libraries in Devon is proposing cuts to the services it offers and the deadline for service users to give their input on the proposals is into its last week.
The consultation seeks views on its plans, which in the short term would see Holsworthy Library reduce its opening hours from 21 hours a week to 15.
Longer term, the service provider is also considering implementing plans that would see the expansion in the hours offered by volunteers and potentially introducing ‘open access technology’ which would see approved users given access to either the whole library or sections of it using automated systems in an unstaffed library.
Libraries Unlimited says it is seeking the changes in a bid to reduce the budget it spends on the services.
A spokesperson for Holsworthy Library said: “This is the final week before the public consultation ends. If you value libraries please have your say in the public consultation before it closes on February 22.
“You can view all the consultation documents and have your say online or in the library, where paper copies are also available.”
