It was a gloriously hot day for Fairfield Nursing Home's annual summer fete and garden party, held recently. The event was officially declared open by Bude Rotarian Howard Davis and included a tombola, raffle guess the teddy's name and entertainment from Bude Metric Brass Band. There was also a display of owls from the Screech Owl Sanctuary, which was very popular and the day was rounded off with a barbecue. At least 150 people attended the event and £330 was raised, a donation of which will be sent to Marie Curie. This has become an annual event for the last three to four years and staff at the home said it will take place again next year.
