THE Environment Agency has issued a warning that flooding is possible in areas across North Cornwall.

The organisation is asking residents to 'be prepared' following yesterday's (January 3) heavy rainfall and continued showers today – river levels are expected to remain high.

As a result, Launceston, Bude and Stratton areas are being warned about the potential for flooding.

A spokesperson from the Environment Agency said: "Further rainfall, possibly heavy, is forecast on Thursday. Expected levels suggest that there could be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river.

"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions.

"Please do not walk or drive through flood water."
