THERE was Christmas spirit all around in Launceston recently, thanks to the musical magnificence of two local groups.

On Saturday, December 6, the town’s Central Methodist Church was a beacon of festive joy and song, as Launceston Town Band, alongside the Launceston Popchoir put on a Christmas extravaganza, drawing a large crowd and delighting audiences with their concert performances.

The concert featured a varied programme of traditional carols and popular festive favourites. Adding an extra sparkle to the evening was the welcome appearance of the Popchoir, whose performances were warmly received by the audience. The band has extended its sincere thanks to Sarah and the Popchoir for joining in and helping to make the event such a memorable occasion.

As well as providing a night of entertainment for the town, the event also serves as a way to raise funds to support the band, ensuring its continuation for years to come. In an effort to raise donations, the evening also included a raffle which proved popular thanks to prize donations from local businesses.

The event also welcomed some VIP guests, with special thanks also given to mayor, Cllr Nicola Gilbert for attending and showing continued support for local music and community events.

A spokesperson from Launceston Town Band said: “We are delighted to report that the concert was a great success, not only in terms of attendance but also in the funds raised for the band. The money will go towards instruments, music, and the ongoing development of players, helping ensure that Launceston Town Band continues to entertain the community for years to come.

“The band would like to thank everyone who attended, supported the raffle, and helped behind the scenes to make the evening such a success. With such strong community backing, Launceston Town Band looks forward to many more performances in the year ahead.”
