POLICE recently circulated an appeal in relation to the theft of a working dog from the Holsworthy area and are pleased to announce the dog has been located and recovered.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed: "We are pleased to update that as a result of diligent enquiries by the local policing team the dog has been located and recovered. Enquiries are continuing in relation to this incident.

"Although incidents such as this are infrequent it prompts us to reflect on dog theft prevention. We should ensure that appropriate security is present on buildings and gardens and that dogs are microchipped with up to date contact details and a tag. Recent photos that include unique markings and characteristics can assist in theft appeals and identification."
