POLICE have cordoned off Calenick Street in Truro, and several ambulances and police cars are in attendance, after a ‘large fight’ erupted.

An eyewitness told us: “I was out on my lunch break when I noticed there were a large number of police vehicles and ambulances in Calenick Street near Burger King and the street had been cordoned off.

“I have no idea what is going on, but it looks big.”

Initially, a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed: “We were called at around 1.45pm on Monday, August 24, following a report of a large fight in Calenick Street, Truro.

“Emergency services are at the scene.

“Three people are believed to have been injured.

“We will provide updates when in a position to do so.”

Following a rapid response, police have issued an appeal for information as a number of videos have been seen circulating online of the events.

Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remain in police custody at this time. It is thought they are known to each other.

A spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a large fight in Truro.

“Armed officers attended and a scene guard was put in place.

“One man suffered a potentially serious injury. Two other men sustained minor injuries.”

“Those involved are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public.

“We are aware of footage circulating on social media.”
