LAUNCESTON-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy, San Tsuru, are holding a 24-hour marathon this weekend to raise funds for the family of a former member Jonatan Preito who tragically took his own life.

Running from 10am on Saturday to the same time on Sunday, there will be non-stop sparring for 24 hours.

Anyone wanting to have a go can do so for £15 which allows you to roll for as long, and as many times as you like.

The club are hoping to raise £2,000 and are nearly halfway to doing so.

A club spokesperson said: “There will be a raffle with prizes from many of our fantastic local businesses, food provided by the wonderful Cofo, and an open atmosphere for any who want to come and see what we’re doing, and why. Come on down!”

The Academy is based at Unit 14D Newport Industrial Estate.
