The Tavistock Town Relays are an annual event and consist of teams of four competing in a 1.1-mile course around the Meadowlands area of Tavistock.

Seventy-nine teams competed this year and East Cornwall Harriers (ECH) again proved their competitiveness by winning four out of the 12 prizes available.

Retaining the winning trophy last won by ECH two years ago the 'Annoyingly Fast' team of Dan Nash, David Lobb, Lewis Pullen and Steve Sims (running his second leg of the night) proved worthy of their name to win in a fantastic time of 20:48.

Although pushed all the way by a very competitive City of Plymouth team, the lads finished just ahead, winning by only three seconds, although each of them looked as if, should it have been required, they could have pushed a little more.

Also putting in a fast time were the 'Young Pretenders' of Steve Sims (first run), Alex Coley, Oli Lord and Rob Lockyer finished in 23:51. Due to an administrative error the 'Were Young Once' team of Paul Arrowsmith, Andy Sims, Kevin Hartigan and Chris Ullman were awarded third male vet team in 25:09. Just unable to catch them, the 'Old Pretenders' team of Mark Davidson, Terry Leech, Mark Andrews and Dave Philp were only two seconds slower. 'Clinging to Youth' Ben Harding, Lee Crocker, Brandon Van Blerk and Liam Gallantry were 31st in 26:49 and the 'Still Got It' team of Joe Kearns, Glenn Wood, Jon Hoare and Paul Arrowsmith (second run) weren't far behind in 27:18.

The first of the three ECH ladies teams was next. Jen Nash, Louise Littlewood, Revis Crowle and Sharon Daw finished in 27:23 and won First Female Vet team. Meeta Nicholls, Jen Hicks, Jen Nash (second run) and Sarah Kriskovic won second female vet team in 29:00. The 'Plenty of Experience' team of Rob Pick, Jim Lockyer, Ray Goodright and Alan Green were 49th in 29:34. Jane Lockyer, Xavier Flashman, Leanne Foster and Sam Hunkin made up the ECH senior ladies team in 32:51.
