ADAM Roebuck, Bude, made it a hat-trick of gold medals at the British Learning Disability Swimming Championships, in Swansea last month.

The event, run by Mencap in partnership with Special Olympics GB, attracted athletes from all over the UK and Adam did outstandingly well whilst representing Plymouth and District Special Olympics and his own club Bude Sharks.

He smashed all his personal bests and has achieved qualifying times for the Special Olympic Summer games in 2017, and came away with three gold medals in 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and 50m freestyle.

He is busy now focusing on two ASA disability swim meets, one in Southampton at the end of the month and one in Bristol in October. He is training hard with Bude Sharks under the ever watchful eye of his fantastic coach Maggie with the hope of qualifying for counties this year.

Adam said: “I really enjoyed Swansea. It was quite scary as it was such a big event but once I’m in the water I just get on with swimming. Again I’m really grateful to Maggie for all the help she gives me before a competition and the support I get from Bude Sharks.”
