BUDE Ladies produced a superb all-round display on Saturday, defeating Caradon Fourths 17-0 in their final Cornwall Cup Plate Group B match over the 70-minute contest.

From the push-back, Bude, who have now qualified for the semi-finals which will be held later in the season, controlled possession and tempo, moving the ball quickly across the pitch and applying relentless pressure.

Goalkeeper Rachel Pomeroy remained alert and organised throughout, securing the clean sheet behind a solid defensive unit of Naomi Hatcher, Tilly Collins, and Emily Smart, who stepped in confidently to break up play and launch attacks from the back.

The midfield unit — Charlotte Kingdon, Charlotte Prime, Izzy Sobey, EJ Biggadike, Mia Flynn, Katie Jackson, and Caroline Hockridge — was the heartbeat of the performance. Their work-rate, smart positioning, and crisp passing allowed Bude to dominate territory and continuously feed the forward line. The link-up play between midfield and attack was particularly impressive, creating wave after wave of scoring opportunities.

Up front, Chloe Hall and Maeva Motsch caused constant problems with intelligent movement and clinical finishing. The goals were shared across the team, highlighting Bude’s attacking depth.

Charlotte Prime led the scoring with five well-taken goals, while Hatcher added a brilliant hat-trick. Hall and Motsch both struck twice, with further goals coming from Kingdon (2), Flynn, Sobey, and Hockridge to round off an emphatic tally.

A team spokesperson said; “Despite the comfortable lead, Bude maintained focus and intensity throughout, pressing high and working hard off the ball. The communication and teamwork across all areas of the pitch reflected a side full of confidence and momentum.

The result is a fantastic way to conclude the group stages, and we now hope this dominant performance will translate into much-needed league points in Trelawney Division One of the West Hockey League starting with this Saturday’s home clash with Newquay Thirds which gets underway at midday.

The men’s first team – who are involved in a relegation battle in Division Two South – return to league action on Saturday and are also in action at the Budehaven Sports Centre when they welcome second bottom Duchy who arrive in North Cornwall seven points behind the Seasiders with the same number of fixtures remaining.
