Nathan Penhallurick’s brilliant second half hat-trick sent Kilkhampton through to the semi-finals of the Cornwall Intermediate Cup on Saturday following a thrilling 3-2 victory at fellow St Piran League Premier Division East outfit North Petherwin.

The Badgers switched the game to the 3G pitch at Launceston College due to the bad weather, and that decision looked to have paid off when they led 1-0 at the break.

However, the introduction of Penhallurick turned the contest in the Lambs’ favour as he firstly turned in a cross before a fine team move saw him beat a defender and finish with aplomb.

His third then arrived when a bouncing ball behind the Petherwin was seized upon and he guided a shot up and over the keeper for 3-1.

The hosts hit back to set up a nervous last couple of minutes, but Kilk were through.

A handful of games did go ahead in the St Piran League divisions involving Post area clubs, including four in Division One East.

Second bottom Launceston Reserves lost 3-1 at their Dobwalls counterparts as after George Durham equalised for the Clarets 10 minutes before half-time, sub Jack Gaynor struck twice to give the hosts victory.

Launceston remain a point behind St Breward who were thrashed 5-1 by visiting St Stephen. Their scorer was Derek Truscott.

In-form Boscastle were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Saltash United Thirds in a game moved to Tintagel with their scorer being Sam Haddy from the penalty spot, while the result of the day was for Lifton who shocked Nanpean Rovers 4-3 which included a hat-trick from Liam Rich.

Promotion-chasing Bude Town Reserves saw off Gorran 2-1 thanks to Lewis Hopgood and Dave Hales in Division Two East, while in the league below, Delabole United lost 2-0 at home to Padstow United.

Lifton Reserves’ outing at St Minver in Division Four ended in a 4-2 defeat.
