FOUR students from Gilwern Karate Club recently made the journey to Nottingham to compete in a young children's competition.

The competition itself was very well run and it gave all children a chance to build confidence on the competition floor.

All four of the students were making their debut for the club but did amazingly well showing good attitude in victory and defeat.

Alanna, Oliver and Brett (who is not pictured) all progressed through to the quarter finals of their own events while Rhiannon (centre) went one step further gaining a silver medal in the kumite or fighting event.

Gilwern Karate Instructor, Matt Stockham Sensei said, "It was a fantastic achievement for everyone who entered and I am very proud of all four students."

The fantastic four are next in action alongside more of their team mates at the Carmarthen Championships held on May 9. The class is now taking new students so if anyone is interested then please get in touch with Matt Sensei on 07813553868.

All ages and abilities are catered for so why not give karate a try.
