SIMON Veal's Bosun, with Christine Marshall crewing, made the best start in Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club's Tamar One race on Sunday, but Jane Anderson soon took the lead with the other Lasers in hot pursuit.

Elliot Pomeroy was just behind in his Topper although the John Savage and the Bosun were catching up fast. Lap two saw James Pollard and Nicky Buckett having a real ding-dong battle.

Simon Veal and Adam Hilton, improved their positions only to lose them again after the dam buoy; this put Elliot in a strong position again.

The strengthening breeze favoured the Toppers; John Duncalf making up a lot of ground on John Buckett's Otter.
