VISITING runner Ollie Garwood edged out Newquay & Par AC’s Tom Morton to win the Indian Queens Half Marathon on Sunday, August 2.

The Belgrave Harrier’s time of one hour, 11 minutes and 43 seconds was just enough to beat the Cornishmen who was 11 seconds behind, while Truro’s Steve Reynolds secured third in 1:12:43.

The ladies race was one-way traffic as Mile High’s Sarah Hoskin cruised to victory in 1:25:16, over six minutes clear of Aoife Mooney (1:31:52) who was 31 seconds ahead of fellow Cornwall AC member Zelah Morrall.

On the team front, Hayle Runners secured both the ladies and men’s titles.

The girls took the ladies crown with 94 points compared to second-placed Cornwall AC’s 101, while such was the West Cornwall club’s dominance in the men’s race, they took both first and second as third went to Truro. Six of the top 20 were from Hayle.
