EIGHTEEN year-old Dan Rooke from Holsworthy went into the last round of the British Rallycross championship at Croft Race Circuit recently, knowing what he had to do to clinch the title.
Dan went into the Grand Final weekend leading his class, and with his eyes set on the prize, he set off at a blistering pace and set the fastest heat time by five seconds, netting himself two extra points. He went on to finish third in the final which secured him the 2015 British Rallycross Supernational Championship crown.
The next day, all the classes competed against each other in the British RX Grand Prix, including the four wheel drive 600bhp Supercars; Dan finished second in the B final which promoted him to the back row of the A final amongst the Supercars in his little front wheel drive 1.6 Citroen.
With 10 cars in the race he finished sixth, winning the award for the fastest front wheel drive car in the event.
Dan thanked the ‘Dan Rooke Racing’ team and supporters, before setting off to Italy to test a car on the World RX circuit and he is also trying to raise funds to do some European rounds next year. These events get great media coverage and if anyone wishes to help him on his way he can be contacted at Tetcott Garage Ltd.
