ON SATURDAY, October 1, chess players travelled from as far away as Penzance and Bristol to play in the second Peter Clarke Memorial Rapidplay tournament.
Peter Clarke lived at Morwenstow and regularly played for England in the chess olympiads in the 1960s.
After his death, his family asked Bude Chess Club to arrange a tournament in his honour.
After the success of the first tournament, it was decided to make this an annual event.
This year’s tournament was won by Newquay’s Lloyd Retallick, with Simon Bartlett and Brian Gosling in joint second.
