OVER the bank holiday weekend at the end of May, the city of Edinburgh held its annual marathon festival with five races from a 5k to the full marathon.

The Launceston Road Runners annual ’away’ trip saw ten of its members take part with a further five supporters making the journey.

The half marathon set off at 8am, making the most of the cooler weather.

Both races took the runners around Holyrood Park before heading out to the coast, up to Musselburgh and beyond with the finish near Musselburgh race course.

The marathon started at 10.30am, meaning that those runners had the extra problem of the warmer temperatures and full sun for most of the course.

The race was brilliantly organised, with a mostly flat course and lots of support at the finish line.

There were some excellent performances from everyone who raced and especially from Brian Wiles who came 3rd overall in his age group and from Sarah Worth in her first marathon.
