POTENTIAL racers stood in a group under dark skies contemplating the choppy conditions before the Tamar Cup 7 race, but eight intrepid boats eventually signed up. Bob Sampson's Laser was first over the line. Simon Veal in a Bosun with Brian Pollard crewing tore up the Lake to Pinkie buoy, while Alan Comber and Louise Stevens, in the Enterprise, got delayed and started well behind. Nathan Pollard was sailing well in his Topper in fourth position, and Sue Murray and John Dabbs in the club Bosun were fifth, with the rest of the boats closely grouped. Alan soon made up lost ground and caught up, however. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
