Bude Bridge Club Monthly Report — September 2016

HUGE congratulations have been expressed to Jane Koldewey on her promotion by the English Bridge Union (EBU) to the rank of 5 Star Premier Master, a recognition of gaining 30,000 masterpoints.

The English Bridge Union’s autumn pairs attracted over 800 pairs from all over Britain, with the local heat being won by Mary Hicks and James Sim.

Nationally, David Clarke and Steven Clifton came a creditable 27th, with Jane Koldewey and Chris Nichols 77th.

The weekly duplicate sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays resulted in wins for Chris Nichols and Steven Clifton, Carole Reid and Linda Ashworth, Neil and Sarah Trenaman, Bob and Ann Bennett, James Sim and Mary Hicks, Micheline and Stephen Smith and Steven Clifton and Linda Ashworth.

A very friendly Sunday afternoon was spent at Trelawney recently playing bridge and eating an excellent meal. Winners on the day were Mike Quartermain and Bob Bennett.

Bude Bridge Club’s autumn Wednesday afternoon sessions have already proved very popular with an outstanding 75% already achieved by Mike Quartermain and Alan Merchant-White.

Other Wednesday winners were Mary Hicks and Gill Lowe, Neil and Sarah Trenaman and Sheila Teale and Lindsey Sandilands.
