East Cornwall Premier League weekly round-up
THE first round of midweek fixtures in the East Cornwall Premier League this season saw victories for North Petherwin and St Minver on Tuesday night.
Petherwin — 5-2 winners at Plymouth Marjon Reserves on the opening day — beat St Dominick 2-1 thanks to Josh Sanders’ double, the first of which came inside the first minute.
On the same evening, St Minver also made it six points from a possible six with a routine 4-0 win over near neighbours St Teath at Trewint Lane.
Ed Green, Corey Cleave and a brace from Steve Wootton proved more than enough.
On Saturday, St Minver made it three straight wins with a 4-1 success at previously unbeaten St Cleer.
Wootton was at the double for the third straight game with Rob Elliott also notching two.
North Petherwin were missing a host of players for the visit of top-of-the-table Mount Gould and it showed as they fell to a 6-0 defeat.
St Teath weren’t in action on Saturday but are this weekend when they welcome St Blazey Reserves.
St Minver were at home on Tuesday night against Padstow United before welcoming last year’s Duchy Premier League champions Foxhole Stars on Saturday.
North Petherwin are also at home once more, taking on Torpoint Athletic thirds.
