HOLSWORTHY Football Club held their annual presentation afternoon at Upcott Field on Sunday, June 2 with over 80 in attendance.
The Magpies’ three sides enjoyed another solid season as the firsts finished eighth in the last ever Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Division One (West) while the reserves were in mid-table in Intermediate One of the North Devon League.
The Under 18s were the standout performers, winning the North Division of the Devon Under 18 Youth League before losing to an all-conquering Exmouth Town side in the county play-off last month. They also reached the semi-final of the cup, before again losing to the East Devon side.
Earlier this month they celebrated their success with an afternoon at the clubhouse with a hog roast while there was also a bouncy castle and other activities.
The club trophies were then presented by chairman Steve Lee with first team skipper Carlo Chandler the big winner. The central defender was awarded the Manager’s (alongside Lee Gardiner), Player’s and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards.
The highly-coveted L&S Dart Club Young Player of the Year award went to teenager Jay Thomas who not only excelled in the first team, but also led from the front with the under 18s.

The Magpies have also announced three new signings ahead of the new campaign.
Due to the new league restructure, Holsworthy have been placed in the new Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier Division East, meaning a promotion up to Step Six football and the chance to test themselves against clubs who were in the league above them last term.
Striker Nathan Bonney and wideman Wes Pugh have both rejoined from local rivals Bude Town while teenage defensive midfielder Toby Martyn has committed to the club.
Talking about his new recruits, first team manager Liam Dart said: “Nathan was with me for my first three seasons at Holsworthy before moving to Wadebridge for a new challenge, since then he has been to Bodmin and Bude. He has experience and will give us a genuine goal threat and has pace to threaten teams in behind.
“Wes will give us creativity, goals from midfield and work rate which will fit in and complement the players we have already. He is a player I have wanted here for a while. Toby is an exciting player with bundles of potential. He played a couple times last season for us and did really well, there were a few clubs chasing him so I am pleased he’s chosen us to help him to continue his development.”
