In this week’s 12-page sports pullout there’s plenty of South West Peninsula League action as the local clubs got their league campaigns underway at the weekend.

There’s reports and reaction from opening day wins for Camelford and Launceston in Premier West, while in the Devon East division, Holsworthy got their campaign started with a 2-0 victory at Cullompton Rangers.

There’s also an interview with Holsworthy joint manager Ryan Hall as he targets mid-table for the Magpies and a chat with Bude Town joint boss Ben Potter as the Seasiders plot a title challenge from St Piran League East.

The East Cornwall League got underway on Saturday with wins for new boys Altarnun and Gunnislake. Inside are reports and photos from Altarnun’s 9-0 hammering of St Blazey Reserves.

Away from the football, rugby returns to Polson Bridge this weekend as the Cornish All Blacks welcome Bideford in their first pre-season friendly. We speak to player/coach Ryan Westren as to how they are shaping up.

Elsewhere at Polson, club legend Crispin Earlie is to receive a ‘town award’.

There’s also the latest from Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club and the local bowls scene, plus more!
