AFTER last Saturday’s bizarre start to the season, hopes are high that things will return to normal for the second round of action in the Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League today, although the forecast is not looking promising.
Callington and Werrington were due to play each other in Pool A of the T20 Premier Kernow Crash but had to settle for two points apiece after their double-header was called off, as were the other four matches.
Callington welcome Camborne to Moores Park later (midday and 3.10pm) and are once again able to name an extremely strong side.
From the 11 that were due to face Werrington, leg-spinner Harry Sawyers is available again and comes in for veteran fast bowler Jim Shorten who will turn out for the seconds, while wicket-keeper Fred Wilkinson comes in for Ben Allsop.
South African overseas star Liam Lindsay will hope for his debut, as will Somerset’s Dutch international all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe and Cornwall opening bowler Ben Ellis.

Division Two East
With no Post area clubs in County Division One this year, there’s plenty of attention on the teams in Division Two East, with seven sides competing.
Werrington Seconds went down last year and after their cancellation at Callington Seconds, will hope to get their campaign off to a good start against visiting St Blazey.
Although they have several in the first team, they still have plenty of options.
Experienced trio Rob May, Mark Hodgson and Ian Searle all come in from the 11 named last week, while the likes of Adam Jenkin, Ian Worsnip, Jordan Duke and Tom Lyle all have first team experience.

IT’S derby day at South Petherwin as they welcome Holsworthy to Kennards House.
Both sides enjoyed wonderful campaigns last time out and both will back themselves to be in the middle of the table at the very least, while the Trees have ambitions of a top four finish.
Holsworthy however travel without several key players. Overseas player Herschelle Poppengoel doesn’t arrive until Tuesday, skipper Ryan Walter is missing and opener Jack May is captaining the second team.
It means call-ups for the second team skipper Lyndon Piper to open the batting, while Matt Shepherd, who has rejoined from Callington and is vice-captain, will lead the side.
South Petherwin are much the same as last year although Cornwall Over 50s batsman Adrian Warne is injured and spinner Andrew Yelland has retired.

Wicket-keeper Tom Preston-Evans is missing once more.
Bude give debuts to Australian paceman Brett Hunter, bowler James Sharman and Harry Dymond, while Gordon Wint is back around and is set to play the full season.

Luckett give a second debut to Angus Harley who has rejoined from South Petherwin while bowler Darren Sambells, who also turns out for Whitchurch in the Devon League, also plays.
The rest of the side has a familiar look to it under new captain Mark Southcott who has taken over from Richard Seeley.

Division Three East
JUST one of the two Post area sides are in action in the fourth-tier as Launceston head to Boconnoc.
Launceston skipper Darren Jenkin is able to name a full strength side minus opening bowler Jacob Staig for the trip to Deer Park.
Staig is at university until May but is able to call upon Liam Tilley to boost both departments.
He has also given youth a chance in the bowling department with teenagers Ryan Hodge, Shane Davey and James Law all in the side.
LAUNCESTON at Boconnoc: Dan Tilley (wkt), Toby Theobald, Darren Jenkin (capt), Mark Thomas, Kevin Worth, Liam Tilley, David Cox, Matt Bloomfield, Ryan Hodge, Shane Davey, James Law.

Four games are set to go ahead in the division including promoted St Minver Seconds’ trip to their Launceston counterparts.
St Minver have to do without key player Luke Osborne but otherwise name a strong side including prolific openers Jake Keast and Matt Gilbert.
Skipper Charlie Edwards can also call upon his brother Archie and bowler Mark Turner due to the increased strength in-depth at the club.
Launceston also name a strong side and will hope for another top-half finish after coming fourth last summer.
WERRINGTON Thirds give debuts to youngsters Billy Uglow and Sam Smeeth for their home game against Menheniot-Looe Seconds.
Ian Wills takes over as captain for the season ahead following relegation, but will have to contend without several players in the opening weeks due to people missing further up the club.
However with the experience of himself, Dan Jenkin and Adam Paynter plus some exciting youth, they are sure to compete well.
Division Five East
TWO Post area sides square off at Butts Field as Tintagel Seconds welcome Werrington Fourths while there is also a derby at Holsworthy as their seconds welcome their South Petherwin counterparts.
Bude Seconds, relegated last term, welcome promoted Gunnislake to Crooklets in a game that both sides will fancy their chances in.
