Division Four
Rosudgeon —
TINTAGEL became the first club since Calstock in 2012 to go throughout a whole Cornwall Cricket League season unbeaten when they beat Helston seconds by six wickets in the Division Four County Final at Rosudgeon.
After choosing to bat, Helston raced to 60-0 inside six overs through Josh Ninnis’ brutal 50.
However, once he was out LBW to the wily Shaun Keeble (4-51) in the seventh over, things fell apart, as Keeble and Ryan Pooley (2-34) did the damage.
In the end only some late order resistance helped Helston get up to 188 all out at tea.
In reply, Tintagel’s prolific opening partnership of Simon Harrison and Nathan Lyon, for once failed.
Following this Pooley (42) and man-of-the-match Keeble (42no) put on over 80 before Pooley was bowled by Matthew Crapp’s first ball after drinks.
However, former Wadebridge batsman, Karl Daly, blasted the ball to all parts in his 55, to allow Tintagel’s first team to go through a season unbeaten for the first time in their history.
Division Five
Redruth —
St Newlyn East 169-9 (J Thomson 57, N Curnow 50; A Pooley 3-30, M Barrett 2-45, D Burnard 2-46),
Delabole 96 ( K Gibbard 5-15, R Monk 3-28). St Newlyn East beat Delabole by 73 runs.
THINGS turned out slightly differently at Redruth where Delabole threw away a great position against St Newlyn East to lose by 73 runs.
The West champions looked set for a large score when Neil Curnow (50) and Jack Thompson (57) led them to 120-2 before the hard hitting Thompson was run-out.
This sparked a collapse, as the Delabole bowlers performed miracles to restrict St Newlyn East to 169-9 off their 40 overs.
In reply, Delabole’s two key players, Adrian Pooley (17) and Glen Burrell (17), plus Drew Burnard (14) led them to 74-2 to set up the game.
However, the last eight wickets fell for just 22 runs as Kevin Gibbard took 5-15 in just 6.1 overs.
IN?THE other County Finals, there were easy victories for Troon and Boconnoc seconds over Lanhydrock and Mount Hawke and Porthtowan seconds respectively while in the Division Three East Final, Newquay seconds scraped past Redruth seconds by 20 runs.
