SOUTH Petherwin know that a maximum of four wins from their final five games will secure them promotion after an eight-wicket success at strugglers Boconnoc on Saturday.

The home side were going well at 42-0, but once openers Mike Blake (22) and Rob Foot (10) departed to Ollie Peterson (2-46) and Sam Pengelly (2-16 off 9) respectively, Paul Clements (2-11 off 6) and Adrian Clements (4-4 off 5) ran riot.

Chasing just 100, Petherwin lost Billy Martin and Darren Jenkin to Matt Middleton (5-2), however Taylor Gerry (40no off 35) and Andrew Brenton (52no off 32) got the job within the 13th over.

St Minver remain fourth following a comfortable six-wicket victory over mid-table Grampound Road Seconds.

Opening bowlers Alex Sculland (3-54) and Antony Ash (3-40) reduced the Roadies to 48-5 before they recovered to make 173 all out despite miserly spells from Ross Keast (2-15) and Rob Hawken (0-11), plus 2-34 from Matt Hartnett.

The chase was a routine affair led by opener Jake Keast’s 56 and 31 from skipper Ben Hawken.

In Division Four, Launceston remain on course for promotion despite a six-wicket thrashing from new leaders St Neot.

The hosts slipped to 11-3 and 58-8 before Muhammad Zohaib’s 24 from just 14 balls got them to 86 all out.

Zohaib then struck early in the chase, and although David Cox (2-13) got some late reward, a lack of runs proved costly.

Werrington Thirds eased past bottom side Tideford by 34 runs.

After openers Nick Ward and Henry Howson made 36 apiece, Dan Warring’s 87 from just 51 balls propelled the visitors to 231-7.

Tideford then slipped to 14-3, but despite Dan Robotham’s superb 96, the visitors kept taking wickets with Freddie Ward (3-37), George Petherick (2-19) and Sam Uglow (2-26) sharing seven.
