Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East round-up – Saturday, June 21

TINTAGEL’S unbeaten record went in the most dramatic of fashions on Saturday as leaders Menheniot-Looe chased down 348 at Butts Field.

After being sent in, home openers Matt Jolliffe (64 off 84) and Adrian Pooley (56 off 49) piled on 119 before Jolliffe and Jordan Burnard (35 off 58) added another 48.

Once Jolliffe was out, Burnard was joined by Ryan Pooley who smoked his second hundred of the season, smashing nine fours and eight sixes in his 109 from just 57 balls.

Jack Minehan (21no) and Sam Abbott (14no) had some late fun in their 347-6.

Menheniot openers Findlay Farrell and Luke Ripley then added 109 in less than 12 overs, but at 170-4 the home side were on top.

But a 156-run stand between Steve Kidd (93no) and Tom Harris (83) ensured the visitors got home with four wickets and 13 balls to spare.

At the other end of the table, bottom side Launceston had a tough afternoon as they sit 17 points from safety.

New leaders Grampound Road Seconds chose to bat and racked up 318-5 as only Matt Bloomfield (2-55) got much reward.

The visitors were then dismissed for 173 with seven batsmen reaching double figures, nobody making more than Mark Thomas’ 44.

Mid-table South Petherwin eased to a seven-wicket success over visiting Boconnoc who struggled their way to 131-9.

All of the home bowlers had good figures with Kevin Horrell (3-16), Adam Creasey (2-22) and Adrian Clements (2-26) leading the way.

The chase was also a team affair with Billy Martin (35), Richard Watson (35), Adrian Warne (26no) and Creasey (30no) in the runs.

Callington Thirds were comfortably beaten by Saltash at Lux Park.

The Ashes made 280-7 with Cally dismissed for 187.

Joe Coates had a good day for Cally with 2-43 and a 31-ball 51.
