THE Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League have announced the draws for the respective cup competitions this summer.
The Clive Rosevear Insurance Hawkey Cup, is a T20 competition for east-based clubs in the ECB Cornwall Premier League, County Division One and Division Two East with the winners facing the Vinter Cup (west-based teams) in the WT Edwards Cup final at Truro in July.
The winners then represent Cornwall in the regional stages, which eventually leads to a Finals Day for the right to be crowned national champions.
The first-round commences with three ties on Wednesday, May 13, and includes County One Launceston hosting Division Two side Menheniot-Looe for the right to travel to Wadebridge a fortnight later.
On the same night, Menheniot’s league rivals meet as St Minver head to Roche. The other tie sees Lanhydrock host Newquay.
Premier League clubs Werrington and Callington have been automatically given byes into the last eight and meet in the quarter-final at Ladycross.
The winner faces either Wadebridge or Launceston/Menheniot-Looe at home.
St Minver have also found out their opponents in the Eden Motorhomes Division Two T20 Cup.
Sixteen clubs have entered with St Minver in Group D alongside Roche, St Blazey and neighbours Wadebridge Seconds.
St Minver start with a trip to Wadebridge on Thursday, May 28 before welcoming Roche three weeks later. St Minver end with a trip to St Blazey on July 9.
The top two from each group go through to the quarter-finals on Sunday, July 26 before the Finals Day is again at Redruth on Sunday, August 30.
Three Post area clubs have entered the Clive Rosevear Cup with Division Three outfit South Petherwin welcoming league rivals Callington Seconds to Kennards House in the first-round.
They will compete for the right to travel to Menheniot-Looe Seconds or St Neot on Thursday, June 25. Victory there would see them reach Finals Day on Sunday, July 19.
In the opposite half of the draw, Werrington Thirds have been given a trip to Saltash St Stephens. The winners host Divison Six East champions Liskeard in the last eight.
The world’s oldest T20 competition, the Isaac Foot Cup is once again returning in 2020, with all matches being played at Moores Park, home of Callington Cricket Club.
The cup, which was first won in 1928, is for clubs in Division Two and below, but organiser Spencer Ham has added a twist this year with clubs been given a handicap depending on how high up the pyramid they are.
Division Two clubs have a zero handicap, Division Three a 20 handicap and Divisions Four, Five and Six enjoy a 40+ handicap, meaning when Division Four outfit Saltash St Stephens face neighbours Saltash Town from Division Two, they get given a 40-run headstart.
Of the 14 entries, six are from the Post area, including champions Luckett who square off with fellow Division Two East side Menheniot-Looe.
A local derby between Division Three rivals South Petherwin and Launceston Seconds and Thirds will provide plenty of interest, as will Werrington Thirds and Fourths’ tie with Gunnislake, which will see Werrington give up a 20-run headstart.
Callington Seconds and Cheesering, who don’t play in the Cornwall League are the two sides given a bye into the second-round.
