Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East round-up – Saturday, May 31

SUPERB contributions from Paul Clements, Adam Creasey and Kevin Horrell gave South Petherwin victory over visiting Saltash on Saturday.

Petherwin had lost three of their first four games and were in a spot of bother at 109-5.

However, a 175-run stand between Clements and Creasey changed the game.

Creasey struck 10 fours and six sixes for his first Petherwin century which ended on 100, while Clements made 92.

In-form Saltash put in a spirited response on a superb pitch.

Sam Renfree hammered the bowling to all parts in his 83 as Joe Page (27), Matt Petherbridge (20), Alex Johnson (34), Richard Townsend (40) and James Blackmore (26) all swung the bat.

Paul Clements (1-28) kept it tight at the start and although several bowlers were given some harsh treatment, Horrell used all of his nous and experience to take 4-37 from his nine, while Creasey took 3-56.

Leaders Tintagel ran out five-wicket winners over Callington Thirds.

Cally were 5-5 after just 2.1 overs as Vedavyas Chowdare (4-35 off 6) took four wickets in five balls - two in two twice - before Jack Minehan (3-15) dismissed Zak Newton-Jenkins with the first ball of the third.

To Cally’s credit they dug in and reached 107 all-out thanks to Mohammed Durrani-Zubair (21), Harvey Poad (17) and Ryan Hodge (27). Ollie Edwards (3-13) took care of the lower order.

Tintagel attacked from the off and although they lost five wickets including three to Ryan Hodge (3-41), they were home in just 15.5 overs thanks to Tom Parsons (19), Ryan Pooley (31), Adrian Pooley (15) and Ollie Edwards (20no).

Launceston lost by 10 wickets at Ladock.

Only Matt Bloomfield (25) and number eight David Cox (24) passed twenty in their 127 all-out before the hosts raced home in just the 16th over.
