Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Six and Seven East round-up – Saturday, August 2
LUCKETT Seconds moved into the second promotion spot on Saturday with a 131-run success over Roche Thirds at Chapel Field.
Luckett made a hefty 277-6 from their 40 overs as after Martin Budge (46) and the returning Mike Clements (53) made starts, the innings was taken on by Mike Townsend (45no) and skipper Richard Seeley (33no).
Opening bowlers Dave Colwell (2-17) and Budge (4-19) set the tone before Martin Budden (2-12) and Gareth Clements (2-24) sorted out the rest.
They are a point clear of their St Stephen counterparts who lost by five wickets to Saltash Seconds.
Bude have to make up 24 points in their last four games to go up following a 24-run defeat to St Austell Fourths.
The Saints made 204-4 from their 40 overs with Mike Taylor taking 2-58, while Dan Petit (1-27) gave little away.
The reply saw Michael Taylor carry his bat for 68, and although Derek Piper added a quickfire 39, nobody else got going as they closed on 180-8.
South Petherwin Seconds proved too strong for visiting Werrington Fourths, running out eight-wicket winners.
Werrington could only muster 109-7 from their 40 overs, Joe Gent making 32 as Brian Baker took 4-22 from 10 overs against his old side, while Emma Barnes (0-15 off 10) was miserly.
Petherwin powered to victory with James Cawsey (46) and skipper Richard Watson (32no) in the runs. George Petherick (1-12 off 7) bowled well.
In Division Seven East, Tintagel Seconds thrashed a Launceston Thirds side who had to field with eight due to an injury and late pull-outs.
Simon Harrison (129) and Joe Parsons (109no) made hundreds in a whopping 394-4.
Paddy Webber (18) was the only batsman to reach double figures in the reply as they were dismissed for 72.
