Bude Sharks Swimming Club members competed in the 2020 Cornwall County Swimming Championships spread over four consecutive weekends in both Penzance and Bodmin throughout January and February, and earned six medals.

In the end, swimmers competed in 93 events and qualified from all age ranges, with more than 50 new ‘personal best’ swims and 17 finals made.

The team walked away with two golds, one silver and three bronze medals, and three swimmers have now qualified for the regional championships in May, Logan Chatterjea (Open Age Category, 16 and above), Maisie Bain (12 for Girls) and Maddie Holt (12 for Girls).

Club coach, Jeremy Latham (pictured back centre), said: “I am so proud of this team and what they have achieved this year so far and they perform with such professionalism and determination, they hold their own against the best in the county.

“The success of the Bude swimmers is all the more impressive given the relative lack of pool time they have compared to the bigger clubs in Cornwall, a situation which will only become more difficult if the cost of pool hire for the club goes up.”
