Bude 1 Mannamead 1
BUDE picked up a hard-fought 1-1 home draw with Plymouth-based Mannamead despite failing to hold onto their lead.
Mannamead started well putting Bude under early pressure. Gemma Ball and Chloe McGrath put in some strong tackles to deny the visitors, as did Georgia Higham and Grace Chan playing in defence.
Mannamead continued to dominate and were awarded several short corners but with great defending and the home keeper in fine form, they couldn’t score.
As the hosts weathered the storm, their midfield came into the game as Cara Phillips, Di Olde, Katherine Muller and Emily Shepherd mounted some great attacks, creating goalscoring opportunities for Charlotte Prime, Zara Higham and Georgia Bunning to go close.
Bude came out for the second half determined not to start on the back foot, and were really strong in the attack as Phillips linked well with Chloe Hall and Prime.
Olde and Muller’s intelligent distribution of the ball to either flanks were causing Mannamead to make mistakes and it led to the opening goal.
Phillips played a lovely reverse stick cross into the D to allow Prime to deflect the ball neatly into the net.
Bude’s lead was short lived as moments after scoring, a lack of concentration at the back allowed the visitors to sneak in and earn a point.
In response, the hosts put the visitors under constant pressure but couldn’t find the winner.
