DUNHEVED Bowling Club had their annual general meeting on Friday, September 27, with Graham Davey announced as the new club president.
Outgoing club president Judith Prynne opened the meeting in front of the 43 members, with a minutes silence for members lost over the past year, this being Phil Freestone and John Moir.
Judith thanked everyone for the support she had over the two years, many highs and lows throughout her term, as she was the first lady president of Dunheved.
She said it was a great honour to have held the post and wished her successor all the very best, this was well applauded.
Many reports followed on what has been a good year for the ladies in particular. One thing which was mentioned in many reports was the quality of the green.
Over the past three years the green has improved, to the standard that has been the envy of many throughout the county. The outgoing greenkeeper Paul Wilson was thanked for his complete dedication in doing this, he will be a hard act to follow.
The election of the officers was then held with the president and vice-president announced as Graham Davey (right) and Angela Wooldridge respectively.
In Graham’s opening remarks, he thanked Peter and Judith Prynne for their roll over the past four years in putting Dunheved very firmly on the map. Peter will leave the county executive in November.
Other officers elected were as follows:
Club secretary — Julie Fishleigh; Assistant secretary — Peter Jones; Fixture secretary — Peter Prynne; Ladies secretary and fixture secretary — Judith Prynne; Men’s captain — Colin Fishleigh; B team captain — Brian Kirby; Ladies captain — Julie Fishleigh; Club treasurer — Claire Fishleigh; Bar manager — Clifford Downs.
A green team is also to be set up in conjunction with James Collins.
Under general discussion, members were reminded that the newsletter will keep everyone updated on forthcoming events, and queries to contact Claire Fishleigh.
President Davey then wished everyone a good and healthy close season, and that the Christmas draw tickets are on sale.
