CORNWALL Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (CFYFC) celebrated their annual harvest festival on Friday, September 30 in St Mary’s Church, Callington.
The service, led by the Rev Tony Stephens and the Rev Robert Oakes, saw a procession of banners from the 20 clubs from across Cornwall, from as far as Stratton in the east to St Buryan in the west.
Members from each club presented gifts of the harvest and a box of fresh produce and tinned food to be donated to the local foodbank and care home.
The service was made up of readings by members of the host club Callington YFC, NFU representative Michael Hambly and a performance by Launceston YFC choir.
As the first event of the new calendar year for the newly elected officers, the event was a true celebration of harvest and support to the farming community.
The service was followed by a disco at Duchy College for the members.
It was great to see the church and disco so well supported with members and friends from all over Cornwall and afar supporting.
This year Cornwall Federation of Young Farmers will be celebrating its 80th anniversary.
An 80th celebration dinner and dance is scheduled for members past and present on Saturday, February 4 at The Atlantic Hotel, Newquay.
