A VETERINARY practice in Cornwall has been recognised for its commitment to keeping animals pain-free.
Penbode Pet Vets in Stratton is celebrating achieving ‘Zero Pain Accreditation’ for its work in pain management and doing all it can to make sure patients are as comfortable as possible.
The accreditation has been awarded by the Zero Pain Philosophy, a global scheme that aims to ensure veterinary patients don’t suffer unnecessary pain.
Dave Tittle, a vet at the practice, said: “We’re really proud to have been awarded Zero Pain status, because it shows that we put the comfort and wellbeing of pets at the forefront of everything we do.
“Our patients are offered optimal analgesic care that’s well thought out and planned with the individual pet in mind. The means pets are as happy and comfortable as possible, so a subsequent visit to the vets is a more pleasant and less traumatic experience for them and their owner. A more relaxed pet means it’s easier for our veterinary team to perform a thorough examination and treat them.
“Pain management is an important consideration for pets having surgery, or if they have come in to see us because they’ve suffered an injury or wound.
“It’s also important for pets that have a long-term health issue, such as arthritis, and we want to help these patients enjoy a really good quality of life for as long as possible, using the most appropriate techniques. As well as medication, we can support pets with a wide range of services such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and acupuncture.
“It’s reassuring for our clients because they recognise we’re delivering superior care to their pets and it’s also rewarding for our vets and nurses, who can see the positive difference they are making to pets’ lives.”
