The RSPB has presented staff at a new housing development with a ‘Bronze’ award for its wildlife friendly show home garden in Okehampton.

To receive this award from the RSPB, elements of each garden have been designed for the benefit of wildlife, whilst ensuring the gardens are attractive and scented havens for residents to enjoy. Barratt Homes included a range of features in the outdoor space of the show home at Okement Park. This included a pond, a drought garden and a scented garden that supports and enhances nature and natural habitats.

Nicki Reid, sales director at Barratt Homes Exeter, said: “We’ve enjoyed a unique, nine-year national partnership with the RSPB - Britain’s largest nature conservation charity - which supports and provides us with tips, advice and guidance. We’re determined to be the leading national sustainable homebuilder and we’re committed to creating places where nature can thrive.

“The show home garden is designed to attract and create new habitats for wildlife. The RSPB ‘Bronze’ award for Okement Park assures new and existing customers of our ongoing commitment to enhance biodiversity here. We hope the garden will attract and support rare and beautiful species for both residents and local visitors to enjoy.
