THIRTY five people from Bude have been interviewed for their memories from between 1939 and 1954 — with over 70 hours of narrative, wonderful, unique stories interpreted into an illustrated exhibition.

Clair Roberts, BA Hons student from Petroc, Plymouth University, Barnstaple campus, has created the exhibition retelling local peoples' stories to complete a degree in Illustration and Professional Practice.

The exhibition will be held at The Kitchen Front in Bude from May 2 to May 9, open daily from 10am to 8pm.

Clair said: "It has been an absolute privilege interviewing these amazing local people, many of whom were just children or young adults at that time. Far from nothing happening in this area, the impact of rationing, American soldiers, evacuees, education, transport and social change were huge."
