Over the next two weeks, the council will be undertaking a random survey of electors in the three areas to gauge people's feelings about the site.
The Higher Wharf, off Vicarage Road, was formerly Stapleton's ship yard. Ownership of the site passed from North Cornwall District Council to Cornwall Council following the reorganisation of local government last year, and now Cornwall Council plans to sell the site.
In order to best represent the views of local people, Bude-Stratton Town Council is asking electors in Bude, Stratton and Poughill if they wish to see the site sold, or would prefer the town council to buy the site to retain it under local control.
Survey forms are being delivered to a random sample of houses in each of the three communities this week. Completed forms can then be handed in at the following locations:
• Bude Stratton Town Council (Parkhouse Centre);
• Poughill Community Hall;
• Stratton Stores and News Shop;
• Flexbury Stores;
• Bude Crescent Post Office.
Alternatively, forms can be emailed to [email protected]">[email protected]. Further forms will also be available at the Parkhouse Centre and online at http://www.budestratton.gov.uk">www.budestratton.gov.uk.
The town council will endeavor to deliver as many forms as possible but time is limited and responses will need to be back with the council prior to its next full meeting on October 7.
