Despite the country entering lockdown, Trethorne Hotel and Golf Club are offering beds free of charge to frontline staff working for the NHS.

The hotel at Kennards House, Launceston were offering free meals and beds to NHS staff such as doctors and nurses, who might be in need of them. However, after the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced strict stay-at-home measures on Monday, March 23, Trethorne’s owner and management made a decision to close their kitchens.

A spokesperson from the hotel said: “...it wasn’t a light decision as staff felt they wanted to be at home to do there bit to stop the spread.”

According to Trethorne, rooms are still available to help where they can, as they are being seen by one member of staff who has personal protection equipment and are being sanitised regularly. The spokesperson added: “I am sorry now to all NHS staff but they are still more than welcome to stay.”
