THREE Year 11 Launceston College students have recently begun clearing overgrown areas in the yard of the historic Church of St Mary Magdalene, Launceston.
Ben Colwill, Jason Worth and Harry Allard are all studying for an award in practical environmental skills.
They are gaining experience by cutting back brambles and ivy, as well as pruning shrubs and tree branches which were obscuring headstones and monuments in the ancient churchyard.
Every year the church, with its wonderful carved granite walls, attracts up to nine thousand visitors, many from overseas.
Now, thanks to the hard-working lads the churchyard is becoming a beautiful 'Garden of Remembrance' to be enjoyed by local people and visitors.
