On Wednesday, June 10, Treknow Rainbows held a cream teas in Treknow Village Hall, which was well attended by all. This was one of many fundraising activities which have been carried out by the unit during the year, in aid of The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS). Other events have included a pampering day for mums, street collection and balloon release. In total, Treknow Rainbows have raised £235.31, which will now be presented to the charity. All monies collected by the NDCS will go towards buying a new 'Listening Bus' for deaf children, which tours the country, displaying new equipment and facilities available to the deaf and their families. Rainbows is part of Girlguiding UK, and this fundraising was carried out as part of their 'Change the World' project. Treknow Rainbows expressed their thanks to everyone who has contributed over the last few months and especially Trevathan Strawberry Farm, St Endellion, and Bradley's Dairies, Delabole for their very kind generosity and donation of strawberries and clotted cream for the event. Rainbows is for girls aged between five and seven-years-old, who can then go on to join Brownies and Guides. Anyone interested in enrolling their daughter are asked to contact Jayne Warton on 01840 214888.
