LAUNCESTON based cheerleading group, The Cornish Starz took part in their first national competition on recently, contesting the British Cheerleading Association Western Classic in Newport, South Wales.

Competing in the Under 16 Level 1 category, the girls finished a very credible fourth, picking up a well deserved trophy for their efforts.

The group, made up of 13 girls aged 8-14-years-old, have been together since the October 2009 under the guidance of coach Katy Northmore.
