A LAUNCESTON family were able to escape a fire at the home thanks to their smoke alarm.
At 4am on Friday, June 26 two crews from Launceston were alerted to attend a domestic property at Prince Charles Close, Launceston that was filled with smoke and where the alarms were sounding.
Upon their arrival, the crews found that the parents had taken the family of four out of the building thanks to the alarm being raised by the smoke detector.
The fire had started in a wall radiator in a child's bedroom. Firefighters removed the radiator from the wall using small tools and took it outside the building. An ambulance attended to check the occupants were well.
