FOR the sixth year running, youngsters with a variety of disabilities and special needs were treated to an exciting morning of activities, held at Lux Park Leisure Centre in Liskeard on Thursday, March 3.
The Sportsability Festival was organised by the Callington School Sports Partnership, covering Caradon and North Cornwall.
Children from schools including Camelford Primary Special Unit, St Stephens Primary Special Unit at Launceston and Coads Green attended. The youngsters were engaged in rebound therapy on the trampoline, parachute games, target type activities, an obstacle course, bouncy castle activities.
None of this would have been possible without the superb support of the student leaders (higher sports leaders and community sports leaders), including teacher, Mrs Jarvis, from Launceston College.
She helped plan the activities and interacted extremely well with the children on the day, making the whole experience very special for those children who often miss out on such adventurous activities.
Brenda Strout, chairperson of the planning team, said: "It was just wonderful to see the children smiling and having such fun in a safe, controlled, but exciting environment and the leaders were outstanding."
