A SERVICE to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE Day will be held in Camelford next month.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) is hosting a service of thanks and remembrance to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

The service will be on Sunday, May 10 in St Thomas's Church at 3pm.

A spokesperson for the RBL said: "There were approximately 200 local men and women who served under the colours together with an unknown number who also served on the Home Front.

"The service is open to all residents of Camelford, Advent and Camelford Station. Following the service there will be a 'NAAFI Break'."

Anyone who would like to attend the service is asked to please call 01840 212524 to ensure a seat is reserved.
