Dartmoor Search and Rescue Tavistock were called by the police at 8.43am on Saturday at Milton Abbot to assist in a search for a ‘high-risk’ 38-year-old man, who had been missing for nearly 24 hours.

They deployed two air-scenting search dog teams along with 23 other members for an extensive search of a range of terrain, including woodland and open fields.

It was a joint agency search involving police personnel, firemen from the Urban Search and Rescue unit, police drone teams and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service.

Around lunchtime further information was received that suggested the man may have moved out of our search area and it was agreed that the team should suspend the search at 2pm. Some other agencies remained to continue to gather information.

The man is still understood to be missing
