THERE was a festive chill in the air on Saturday, December 3, when Holsworthy celebrated its annual Christmas Lights Switch On.

As usual it was a great family event with plenty on offer for all.

The Mayor of Holsworthy, Cllr Helen Parker, on behalf of the town council, thanked all the volunteers, organisations such as the Lions and Rotary, town band, the performers from the primary school, community college and youth club and all those that made the Holsworthy Christmas Switch On event, market and late night shopping such a success.

She said: “It was lovely to see so many people young and old out enjoying themselves on all the different attractions.

“The Christmas lights were especially spectacular this year so thanks to all those volunteers that spent many hours putting them up.”

The town will also be holding its annual Christmas Carol Service at 6pm on Sunday, December 11, in St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church which is always a special and moving service, and I look forward to seeing many organisations and people there.
